About the role
We are looking for an experienced Import Purchase professional with 8–10 years of experience to manage end-to-end procurement, particularly import purchasing, vendor development, negotiations, logistics coordination and commercial operations. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely availability of materials at optimum cost while maintaining strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
The role requires strong knowledge of import procedures, documentation, customs, freight coordination, purchase orders and vendor management, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with Finance, Warehouse, Sales and Operations teams. These responsibilities align with current manufacturing/procurement roles that emphasize import coordination, vendor management, cost optimization and procurement controls.
What you'll do
- Monitor customs clearance and ensure timely receipt of materials.
- Maintain proper records of BOE, import documents, freight and duty details.

- Vendor Development & Management
- Identify, evaluate and develop new domestic and international suppliers.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors.
- Evaluate vendors on quality, price, delivery, service and reliability.
- Conduct regular vendor performance reviews.
- Develop alternate sources to reduce dependency and supply risk.

- Cost Control & Negotiation
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and favourable commercial terms.
- Analyze landed cost, freight, customs duty and other import-related expenses.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Monitor market prices and supplier quotations.
- Prepare cost comparison and purchase analysis reports.

- Inventory & Material Planning
- Coordinate with Sales, Operations and Warehouse teams to understand material requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement to avoid stock-outs and excess inventory.
- Monitor minimum/maximum inventory levels and lead times.
- Follow up on critical and fast-moving materials.
- 6.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Finance, Accounts, Warehouse, Sales, Operations and Management.
- Resolve supplier, logistics, quality and delivery-related issues.
- Ensure timely availability of materials as per business requirements.
- Provide regular updates on purchase orders, imports and pending shipments.

- MIS & Reporting
- Prepare Purchase MIS, Import MIS, Vendor Performance Reports and Cost Analysis.
- Track pending POs, shipment status, delivery timelines and outstanding payments.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and records.
- Report procurement savings, risks and critical material requirements to management.

- Experience
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in Purchase / Procurement.
- Strong hands-on experience in Import Purchase is mandatory.
- Experience in handling international suppliers and complete import cycles will be preferred.
- Experience in team handling and vendor development will be an added advantage.
